A New Life.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?  I’m Leah.  The one who dropped off the face of the internet for a few months.  I have come back (somewhat) as a new person with quite a different outlook on life.  Where should I start?

Well, I suppose the best place to start is March.  March 9th my ex-husband and I filed for a no-fault divorce.  I requested and was given full custody of our daughter, Caitlyn. (We share joint legal custody) I actively started looking for a job and a place to call home.  Fast forward a few months of living very awkwardly in the same home as the person you are divorcing to April.  In April I started working as a CA (Chiropractic Assistant for my dad) Moving forward a few months to June.  I started working full time for my Dad.  Caitlyn and I found a cute little house to move into. My divorce was finalized on June 11th, 2009. (a few days over our 7th anniversary)

I’m currently adjusting to this new life.  It’s different to not always be around for my daughter.  It’s different waking up at 4:30 in the morning for work!  It’s different having complete control over the finances of MY HOME!  It’s different to have control of my life.  It’s different.. and I love it!

Heavenly Father has blessed me so much this year.  While my life isn’t where I thought it would be.. I could not be happier.  I’m dating someone very special, I love my job, my daughter is happy, my house is in order, my finances are in order.. I am in order!  It’s amazing what such a huge kick in the butt can do to a person!  Anyway, this is my new place to rant.  This isn’t just a scrapbooking blog anymore.  This is my personal blog where I will share what I feel is appropriate for not only myself, but perhaps for others..

I understand now why I enjoy blogs.  I can read about other people’s experiences and realize that I am not alone in them.  I am not the first divorced Mormon mom.  I am not the first woman who went from being a home maker to working full time to support herself and her children.  In the words of that terribly corny McLean song:

YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

Anyway, I’m back.. so.. beware.
